I am looking to move my prefaclift OBC from next to the switches to the oddments tray next to the ashtray in the centre console.

My question is will it fit?

As the wires are too short - can these just be extended by splicing in longer wires?

As the OBC is deeper than the normal clock, by cutting the bottom of the oddments tray is there enough mounting depth to have the face of the OBC level with the ashtray?

I've seen it done by mounting the OBC sideways, so that the bottom of it faces the driver. No problem in splicing and extending the wires to make it reach, just make sure they are done properly.

You can just about see one here in Daz's old zed. @gookah may be able to tell you more, he bought the console from him but has moved the OBC elsewhere now.

That was exactly where it was when I got the console. However, the LED's on the display are such that they are only visible clearly if you are looking down on it, and where it was in the console the passenger could see the display readout but not me as the driver.
So I moved mine to the underside of the dashboard, as below:

I had to extend every wire, so I cut off the plug and soldered in some extra length and reattached the plug

The plugs are all generic TE / AMP so you might be able to but patch leads to do it without cutting / soldering

Hi thank you for the info and especially about not being able to see the display due to the angle.

Going to have to think about where I might mount it, as where you have put it, it would bang against my knee. Might think about mounting it in the glove box o_O

Thanks for this. Would be easier to do using a plugs.
