Hi,
I personally use 5W40, because I use the car only 6 months, in the summer.
Most of the recommendation goes also for 0W30, for all season use.
For the hydraulic tappets probably the 0W30 it's better...

I use 0W30 Fully Synthetic in my 2.2i Seems like she has been drinking that stuff most of her life from the service records.

Fuchs titan Supersyn 5w40 is what you need
Agree - have just ordered my oils from Opie Oils - 5 litres about £26 plus delivery. If you go to Opie site and enter car details it will come up on recommended list.

I would be putting some flushing oil into what's already in the engine and run that for a while. Then change oil and filter regularly.

Tony.

I found a dealer in RO for the Fuchs oil and the price is similar (of course without gloves, etc.); the option is 4+1 liter, the 5 liter is not available...
I will try it on the next oil change; till now I used only the ARAL 5W40, also made in Germany.:)

I would do what Tony says and try an engine flush, but if that does not work then I would replace the lifters, gunge just grows no matter how much you thin the oil out, and then you'll be into head problems

I stick to the Manual specified weight of 15w-50 I prefer the Motul 6100 15w-50. I run an oil temp gauge setup by VDO to make sure i don't wind to aggressively until the oil has at least 160 degrees of temp.
