A few people on here have sold theirs for around £100, but don’t expect to find a working one cheaply anywhere else. Seen them advertised for 3 or 4 times that. Lots of us have gone for the relatively inexpensive Blaupunkt head units. There are many variations to suit most needs and they look pretty good.
I have seen the advertised for the prices you are talking about but are they selling for that?
If they are I will probably go down the Modern Retro looking Blaupunkt route.

The short answer is yes - in good condition OEM radios (tape and CD) sell for strong money.

Especially if in good condition with non damaged display

It's insane but yes. £400 for a 30 year old cd player. There are reasons...
If you are contemplating paying big bucks I'd skip the OEM cd player and look at something like a Becker (bmw) Traffic Pro, Becker indianapolis (£200-£250) or the Blaupunkt Bremen if you want new, modern features.

I have managed to source one for £175 that looks to be in good condition. I should hopefully have it for the weekend.
You can also find them in Land Rover and MG cars of the era. Although the display colour might be different.
The one I have sourced is from a Rover. I'll cover the Rover badge up

It is the same unit with a different badge.
