Hi wise ones šŸ˜¬
I know virtually nothing about cars & engines!!! Be gentle with me please šŸ¤£

My Z3 2.8 2000 (M54TUB28 I think) is cleaning up nicely.

Starts & runs. Wonā€™t rev.
Iā€™ve changed split hoses.
Replaced faulty MAF
Started & ran nicely cold but wouldnā€™t rev when warm.
Got the garage to plug it in & got a P0505 - Idle Control System fault code.
Took out the ICV & cleaned it, was a bit dirty but it was working šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
Replaced it allā€¦. & now itā€™s worse. More air in system? Not sealed

Iā€™m not convinced that I fitted it to the intake manifold (?) correctly.
It seemed to be a push fit. But my small brain is telling me that it should have been a pipe or at least have something to tighten.
Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks
Rhyd

Seems you have already changed or cleaned the usual suspects. A smoke test would find any air leaks you may still have.
Real oem parts site shows your 2000 2.8 is a M52 engine version. Parts diagram for intake here, check the gaskets were seated correctly when you put it back on.

Thanks for the help šŸ‘
M52? How can I tell the difference or tell for sure?
Iā€™m going to re seat the ICV today.
I noticed the rubber grommet where the ICV connects to the manifold. I wonder if itā€™s worth changing that.
Real OEM Parts is in America? Any issues getting stuff sent to UK?
Thanks again šŸ˜Ž

Just Google the part number and you will come up with a few hits. Always worth checking your dealer as prices can surprise you. Be wary of eBay sellers as they usually take the micheal. If your doing a bulk order of items you can make savings from autodoc but takes a while to arrive from Germany.

Real OEM is just a parts catalogue. Put your correct car details in (put the right build month / year as per your log book as things changed through production years) then you get the correct part numbers to search for or relay to BMW parts department.

Iā€™ve been hunting through possible faultsā€¦
Iā€™m thinking DISA valve maybe not working.
Online searching revealed a video showing how to test the valve works.
View: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=so6xLmg1zno

Iā€™ve run through his tests.
Vac good but the flap does not move when key turned to run position.
@colb @Nodzed Would you get a new DISA based on this OR try & get another one to check first?
Thanks
