Right, removed my boot rack so as to clean up the grommets that the rack rests on, on the lid.
Noticed some very slight discoloration in the paint work.
My question is, what can I best use to remedy this?

Try the stuff below, its very good! (for medium to high impurities)

If its not too bad condition.

The bmw paint is very hard so this stuff should do it.

you can apply it by hand, a machine polisher isn't needed.

Use some lint free micro fibre clothes.
