Passenger airbag E85 Z4

Quick question for you experts....is it possible to turn the passenger airbag in my E85 on and off when I want to?
I'm considering buying a baby seat for the new little-un's arrival (never too young to start them). It would need the airbag off though.
Obviously I've been researching black/orange ones.

Isn't there a key lock for turning the airbags in the door jamb on the earlier Zeds? I'm vaguely sure my 2004 had one, they changed it on the facelift ones as I have a warning lamp next to the gear lever. It may be the 2004 Z4 had it fitted as an option though. May say on a VIN decode if it's fitted.

Hey Mac, I was going to scan the pages in my owners handbook for you but the printer/scanner is not playing ball. Anyway I took pictures of the pages instead on my iPad. They're a little blurry but I'm sure you can see all you need.

My car is a 2003 and does not have the key lock/switch on the left hand end of the dash, there is an indentation about 40mm dia. where it would fit. I'll add a picture in a minute. Hope this helps mate.

Hey Mac, I was going to scan the pages of my owners manual,for you but the printer/scanner had other ideas (I hate technology!) anyway I took pictures of them on my iPad, they're a little blurry but still readable. My car is a 2003 and does not have the function to turn off the passenger airbags although in the left hand end of the dash there is an indentation where it would fit. Hope this helps you mate.

Well, I do love the car but that rumour has been greatly exaggerated!
