I made an interesting discovery today, Yesterday, I was doing a bit of work on my boat, it is glass fibre, light cream, with a couple of red stripes. The red was getting a bit faded, as it does after a few years, I use a product called 'Owatrol', (I am not affilliated to this company in any way, I hasten to add!).
The faded gelcoat comes up a treat, I had a light bulb moment! I rubbed the rag I was using on my very grey and faded plastic door mirror mounting surrounds on my Saab, it turned black instantly, hmm...
Today it is still black and rather good looking, so, I have gone mad with it, all plastic and rubber bits have had a good wipe over with it, and I must say it looks great, I'll leave it until I get another weather window, if it still looks this good I'll give SWMBO's Z3 a going over, I'll get some pics when I get chance.
I normally use automotive plastic renovator products but the finish doesn't last very long and the results are usually not as good as this, the closest I've had was wiping it with ACF50, but that only lasted a couple of weeks and washed off.

Very respected in Greece where the sun kills plastics. It works and lasts for two years minimum.
you apply with a soft brush, let it soak and then wipe with a microfiber cloth.
better to do it on a hot day but not directly under the sun.
there is a boat one and an automotive one.
the “polytrol” is the automotive one.
comes in liquid and aerosol.
confrats! A great find!
