I've read all I can on this forum about the fitting of a poly diff bush and opinions seem divided so my question goes to those who have replaced their standard bush with a poly. Was it a good modification or do you wish you hadn't done it?

I've poly bushed the front wishbones and that was a major improvement, my cars only done 28k so the diff bush is as new, what I don't want to do is distroy a purfectly good (and from what I've heard expensive!) standard bush to get no improvement or extra noise/harshness.

Thanks in advance.

To be honest Steve if your original bush shows no sign od deterioration why would you change it. I have changed a few Z3 diff. eye bushes but these were totally shot. The poly bush's most endearing part is it's very easy to fit. If the old one is shot it's also easily removable too making the whole job a doddle. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Tony.

I have more diff whine after fitting mine. But I don't mind diff whine.

Was a doddle to fit.

@t-tony helped me do mine but it was completely shot. We replaced it with a powerflex poly bush and i like it but wouldn't know what a standard good one is like to compare.

Mine was changed for a poly but the diff had sagged and looking at the bush delaminated as well
Removed nearly all my drive line clunk too.
As said used for its ease of fitment but if your oem bush is in good order i see little benefit although the poly is solid so removes alittle movement.

Agree with Tony if it's not broke why bother .
Mine was a little worn and when it was changed I did notice a difference in first gear pulling away it had a very slight shudder.New poly bush fitted that's now gone a smooth pull away.
No difference in noise.

Thanks for all replies, I'll leave it as is for now, I do sometimes get a little judder on takeoff but not very often.

Where does the judder seem to come from? Please describe Ta.

If its a 2.8 they do suffer with diff clunk anyway. It's nothing to worry over if that's what it is.

Doesn't happen very often and as I recall the last time was when doing a hill start and the judder is through the drivetrain not centered at the diff or gearbox.

I have the 3.0, no dif clunk but the trans vibrates when I accelerate hard, sorting that out I think with trans mounts, central bush and flex already done, so was wondering if the diff mount can can contribute to the shudder I can get :)

It may do? Check the diff bush, it's pretty odvious if its knackered, you say you've done the driveshaft rubbers?

Yep, I was asking around and created a thread about it, called Whats the horrible noise or something like that! :)
