Spotted this 928 and MGF on a hotel car park on the South coast, both in a right state and full of mould, inside and out! The plate on the 928 must be worth a fortune.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone. One never knows the circumstance for something such as this. The owner might have passed away leaving the cars to a relative who doesn't know what to do with them. Could be a motivated seller. The current owner might be willing to sell right away. You don't know WHAT'S going on until you ASK. Frankie.

@FRANKIE in the UK this is regarded as a "Personal Plate" which you buy. Some go for well over £40,000

In New Jersey, if you want a personal plate, you have to pay the state extra to make it for you. This is from the State of New Jersey web site:

Personalized and Specialty Plates
Personalized/Vanity Plates
Personalized plates, also known as vanity plates, are a great way to stand out from the crowd―not to mention entertain other motorists. Within reason and good taste, you can choose a letter and number combination that individualizes your ride.

A personalized plate must have at least 3 letters and a maximum of 7 characters (letters and numbers). You may put your name or a message on your plate for a fee of $50, plus the regular registration fee

Now, if I want a plate to say: "FRANKIE", I have to pay the regular registration fee plus $50. Also, this plate must not already exist or be in use by another car registered in the state. You must have a different system there for a plate to cost over 40,000 pounds. How and why is your system different? Who gets all that money? Frankie

Andy, it's a Northern Ireland plate. BIG plates make around £500, the reference to the "928" makes very little difference, just more appealing to a 928 owner. Good plate for the car tho.

My wife has informed me that my car is in a right state and I'll need to give a bloody good clean when I visit home next week as it's totally pebble dashed by our feathered friends. It's even parked away from any trees Not looking forward to this probably have all burn marks into the cleat coat.

Plates over here the IOM with anything Manx go for silly money.

The government raises money buy auctioning off the most " interesting " registration numbers before they become available. Sometimes at reasonable prices but all extra revenue.
