Hi all , Ive just got a 2.8 Z3 1997 conv having owned one new back in 1999 ! the car has a few issues so I'll be reaching out a bit and hope someone here can help. First job is to sort the brake lines and hydraulic steering lines. Brakes no problem but can anyone tell me
Are the power steering ( metal ) lines that go across the steering rack the same pipe as brake line, they look a little bigger in diameter and I'm reluctant to take them off and make new ones in case the compression fittings dont fit.
thanks in advance

If the brake pipes and steering pipes are the same on all versions, Mine being a 1.9lt, then I would say no.

Brake pipe O/D measurement taken at ABS pump

Measurement of O/D of steering rack pipes is 8.65mm. ( bit of a stretch under the car so couldn't get a picture)
These are the smaller of the pipes ‘U’ shaped near the bellows ( not the larger banjo fixed ones)
Allowing for the readings being a bit off ( pipes dirty) , it doesn't look like the rack pipes and brake pipes use a common size for both.
