I run my Z4 on the premium fuel at my local filling station and I do think the engine runs smoother and performs better for having this fuel. This article on MSN would seem to back this up.

Loads of opinions mate and I've said it before when it has come up. Some years ago Auto Express did a test on normal fuel and RON98. A city car (can't remember the make), a Golf GTi and a Subaru WRX. No gains on the city car, marginal gains on the GTi and good gains on the Scooby, in BHP. The more 'sporty' the car the better so no benefit to less powerful cars.

That's the one, great find with some good gains though not cost effective if your Zed is your daily commute perhaps. At the end of the day, more is better :D
What? More under your right foot?:D

I've tried both in my Z and my daily drive and not a smidge of difference for me

Can't say I've noticed any difference. Ran the zed for a few weeks on the better stuff and went back to standard pretty quickly.

30 mph in 5th for 25 miles is not a fair test mate =))

I suppose on the smaller engines your ok on the 3.2 it pinks and holds back on 95 dunno if you 3.0 and 2.8 owners have the same symptoms. So 98 or Tesco 99 octane for me.
My 2.8 runs OK on 95 but defo has a better kick on 97/98. Can't speak for economy as I have no interest.

The only difference I notice is it doesn't pink when on the higher octane.

Guy who did my remap told me I should run high octane, used it for a while before because people said it improves MPG despite costing more. MPG didn't improve at all and I couldn't really tell any difference in performance, just cost me more in fuel. I keep meaning to put standard octane in to see if it does make any difference even though he told me only to run high octane after the remap.
