Just wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself and to communicate my excitement at being an owner of a 1997 BMW Z3. She is red with a black soft top, has a 1.9L 4 cyl engine and overall is in pretty good shape. The car has been saved as it sat in a garage in Richmond Virginia for 13 years. I had to replace the engine control unit, which I found used and had re-programmed ( had to send the keys, EWS, and ECU to precision ). Also had to replace the clutch and flywheel, fuel pump, battery, spark plugs, and fuel filter. I also swapped out all of the fluids to include oil, coolant, rear diff, trans, and brake. She still has very common cosmetic issues including clear coat peeling on trunk, bad plastic rear window, steering wheel worn, and shifter knob beat up but the remaining interior is in great shape ( i.e. leather, trim, carpet, etc ) I look forward to learning from everyone on the forum and hope I can also contribute.
