The Mercedes star, who now has more poles than any other British driver, was over half a second quicker than Daniel Ricciardo, with the Australian's Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel pipping the spinning Mercedes of Nico Rosberg to third

I'd love a wet weather race as it really mixes things up, great for the viewers. Even better is when it's dry start and then rains mid race, and then dries out later.

Hamilton sets British record with China pole

Lewis Hamilton surpassed Jim Clark's British pole position record by topping Saturday's wet qualifying session for the Chinese Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver set a 1:53.860 to comfortably lead Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel, while team-mate Nico Rosberg endured an error-strewn Q3 en route to fourth.
