Quick question - Does the parcel shelf support the rear window?

Hi all
New member here.
I removed my parcel shelf and hinge to attempt to repair the roof motor but couldnt get the motor housing out.
Anyway im seeing Durham Dave next week and he will do it. He said just leave parcel shelf out for now and he'll put it back when he does the motor.

But does the shelf support the rear window glass when the top is down?
If i leave the shelf out for now should i keep the top up or will it be safe to have it down?

As far as I'm aware Stu leaving the boot roof out won't effect the rear window glass. Are you operating the roof manually? When you get it repaired think about fitting the Gap-Tech module.

Yes operating manually at the moment. I just noticed the shelf seemed to be the same profile as the glass and started wondering if it supports the glass when the roof is down.
