Hello,

Opening this thread to give the overview of the progress on the preparation of my 2.8 Z3 for racing.

For the moment you can certainly say it is a work in progress....

P1030977.JPG

The interieur is almost stripped (actually it's a little bit more stripped as in this picture, but I didn't find a more recent picture)

P1040004.JPG

On the front, most is off.
Needed to take the bonnet off as it will be made in fibreglas (as the other body parts).
When I was there, I took the bumper off to, just to see is all was ok.
And might need to do some changes to the bumper to make way for an air intake and for brake cooling vents.

If someone could use some parts of the interieur or...you can always ask, maybe I still have them, and won't be using them.

Regards, Keon

Looking good, I guess you picked the car up cheap in the UK and imported it back to Belgium, how did that work out for you was it an easy process and if it is going to be for track only do you end up paying less tax etc.?

didn't import it. it is only for trackdays, so it isn't even registered.
i would be paying full taxes... as i already have 3 cars on which i pay taxes.... that's enough....
i have a car trailor and i can tow the combination with the discovery. so no need to register the z3.
that also means i'm not limited to legislation on the modding part of the car.........
only limited on the budget ;-)

as you mention, got it pretty cheap in the uk.
and i don't care it's RHD....only shifting takes some time to get used to.

regards, Koen

Did wonder if there would be any taxes at all with it being for off-road use only so that's all good. I suspect the colour isn't to everybodies taste eather which would have lowered the price as they are harder to shift. I have someone who lives near me with a Z3 that colour and has a hardtop permanantly bolted on to it, I like it but the wife nearly pukes everytime we see it. =))

i love it....as a race-color...too many white and dark blue cars on track.
My brother passed by the other day at the track to take some pictures.
He said it was easy to spot when i came round the last corner...

I'm not getting them done.
I will create a mould myself.

All body panels that are now in metal will be created in the near future....near future can certainly be 1 year until all will be done.
Some will be standard trim, some may have "options".
I"m planning on doing headlight-covers/air-intakes (that should be fixable to the bonnet.
Don't know yet about the side vents.
Will certainly do trunk...I think that will certainly have some modifications: thinking about making it straight down (without the cavity for the numberplate etc) and without 3rd braking light. --> not sure yet.

The color did get me a "discount".... I think.
Didn't know at the time the prices they were going. Just thought it was cheap enough.
To be precise, got it home (so with travel expenses) for +/- 2000£
...I will be spending more then that on the modifications :)
