Could someone confirm that the rear brake calipers are same as E36. TIA

Not strictly true. E85 Z4 rear callipers fit, but, when on the bleed screws are at the bottom, so you have to bleed them before you bolt them onto the carriers. Much less expensive too.

E85 brake calipers have a different brake piston though, it's larger in diameter so I'm not sure if there isn't a negative effect on the braking system under certain circumstances.

There may be some effect, but why it would be negative I don't know. Most likely you wouldn't notice any difference, like not knowing when they're seizing up, till they smoke? Plus for the difference in price well worth trying IMHO.

Good tip using Z4 Calipers despite the bleed nipple being in the wrong place, not a game changer if bled before bolting them back on. Just ordered a Z4 pair to keep in stock in the Shed for when I need them for the Z4 or have on hand if one of our Zedshed Cymru members need a replacement Z4 or Z3 quickly. Autodoc were the cheapest source for RIDEX brand despite the £8 delivery charge, big choice of other Brands at various prices.
