First post ladies and gentlemen, be kind
Been tipping away tidying the underside of my E86 coupe I aquired two years ago, just recently diagnosed the annoying rear left rattle as the shock.
Replaced top mounts with polly and most of the suspension, kept rubber around diff carrier in the hope of reducing road noise. That diff carrier was a pure to get the bushes out of without a press.
Made up a new RHR brake pipe with diff out, it's a bit exposed in front of left wheel
No amount of beating would get the exhaust flange bolts out, managed to goose left hand lambda sensor, replacement came free......
This spring I refurbised the front, much easier, not as many images as the rear...hot zinc galvanised what I could, then 2k paint on some parts and loads of cavity wax.
Removed the rad support panel, salt was taking it's toll there too, hot zinc and 2k. Car had been in a minor shunt, LH rad air ducts were broken, got some S/H but had to get the most expensive one new, ouch!!
Got rid of the aftermarket back box, I can now have a conversation again.
Can anyone recommend an aftermarket rear shock please? I have the original 33506777029 fitted. It's a mine field of choice out there, can get Bilstein here quite easily just not sure which ones.
I've sport suspension, PO dropped ride height 35mm, managed to raise it 20mm so dosen't bottom out now, what a relief
PS, thank you to all the people that posted so I was able to glean the necessary info, made ripping so much easier
