Rear speaker size

Looking to confirm rear speaker size in an 1997/98 Z3. I know that folk have replaced them with 5.25 with some demel action but I'm looking for a direct replacement

I'm replacing all the speakers and cables from tomorrow afternoon onwards so looking to buy before I start removing the interior...............

Big shout out to Zedonist who has been a superstar in answering a variety of ICE related questions.

So interior all back out tomorrow and new ICE fitted hopefully by Wednesday

Cheers mate, anybody able to confirm?

Suppose if I order 4" I can make them fit. Basket ready to comfirm purchase (I know that is a change to the above plans re no dremel.....)

or try and find some facelift rear pods as they take a 4.25 i think (its what im planning to do at a later date)

If you have a small round speaker grill its 3" if its larger inset in a panel i presume 4" to 4.25"

Early cars are 3 inch, face lift are 4 inch. Let me know how you get on. Don't forget to test before final fix...

On the 1998 we have they are 4", replaced ours with http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-in-phase-sxt1035_p-32231.htm , just needed to cut out the plastic 'star' struts across the old speaker grills. would say however they do cause the stereo to clip if turned up to high, one day will replace the whole set up

There is not much room behind the existing speakers, do check if you want to keep the flush surface instead of having external speaker covers
