I had an experience this week that I thought I'd share with you.
When I bought my car it had a scuff on the bottom of the "fang" on the ///M front bumper....
I put a plaster over the boo boo by wrapping them in carbon wrap but I was happy with the look....
I was looking for a body shop to carry out the repair and my search was sped up when I misjudged the level of the car park at Chatsworth house during my Picturesque Derbyshire cruise and scraped through the wrap on both fangs.
So, after lots of research I settled on a place an hour from me called Bodyworx in Swadlincote, Derbyshire.
The owner Wayne looked and said he could repair and paint it for £90 and it would take 2 days. I thought that was fair so I booked the car in for last Monday.
As promised the repair was done to a high standard, and went much higher up the bumper as there was a stress fracture in the paint....however Wayne was not happy with the colour finish as it wasn't exactly right.
It turns out that my GTS Fire orange colour is actually a custom variant of the colour so the paint code was off. So Wayne set to work to rediscover the recipe for the paint mix in order to redo his work. He was aware of my tight deadline as I am in the show and shine comp at the VanityBMW event this weekend and needed a few day to prep the car.
I had a phone call yesterday early evening from Wayne telling me he had been successful. As he'd proved himself to be a perfectionist I took him on his word.
I turned up today to collect the car and was over the moon for a few reasons. To start with the repair and paint was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Secondly, Wayne has resprayed my kidney grilles in the satin black as he had them out of the bumper anyway and they had suffered some stone chips. So now the front of my car is completely chip-free. Lastly and well deserved of recognition....Wayne knew I was now short on time to prep the car so he stayed late last night to wash and wax the car for me!
Incredible!
So the time came to settle up. My 2 day simple job of spraying a tiny area had turned into a 4 day (and late evening) job of painting most of the bumper, matching, and painting again whilst trying to find the colour recipe by eye plus the painting of the kidney grilles. I was touchy about the bill to say the least....
Wayne went on to explain that he would rather send out every job perfect and lose money on some knowing that he'd get recommended and get more work in the future as a single bad review online could seriously damage his reputation. So the bill for all this work came to......£90! Yes £90! I had to practically force him to round it up to £100 to cover the extra for painting the kidney grilles. They even gave me a vail of paint to use as touch up.
As for the quality of work, see for yourself....
Oh and to top it off, I went to collect my car in my dads car which had a nasty scuff on one side from a car park and Wayne MOP'd it out for free whilst we waited!
If you have any body work that needs attention I highly recommend these guys so check them out: www.bodyworxx.co.uk
Tell them I recommended them, they'll remember the car after all the trouble it gave them!
