Hi Guys I am in Sydney Oz. I have 2 x3.0i
I understand 14,000 were produces. Assume 10% went to Oz,smaller market. Annual attrition seems reasonable at 2% per annum ?. This would suggest that only 50% are left.
Attrition might be higher with rust in UK.
Perhaps 3-3500 were sold in UK ?
Happy to read your comments Thanks

A strange animal Zs, I currently have 3. 2x 3 1 x 1.9. Me ,like many, attempt to know what 3.0i are left..I did write to Gmbh to ask world distribution of the 14,000 produced. Noreply was the answer, lol. I am assuming at 2% attrition 45% are gone. Any comments ?

Z3's have a habit of multiplying in the garage. I have up to 3 at one time, down to 2 (2.8 and 3.0) at the moment.

In N.Z. the vehicle registry is an open database (people having access to public data). No personal data is accessible but we can search by VIN and see how many are still in the registry. Is there something similar in Oz?

You will find this very hard to obtain any kind if reliable data on.
I have a couple of Individual models and have tried to look into build numbers .
Bmw if they even have the build numbers are not interested in the slightest about divulging any of it.

Take your 3.0 models there is chassis range data for the engines that gives you a potential number of vehicles based on the amount between the first and last number in that range ( for example say 3.0 is chassis Le 71111 to Le 91111 that would be 2000 cars) there is a problem with that as not all consecutive chassis numbers were used so that figure is already inaccurate then you will have rarer models within that range of vehicles just to muddy the waters furthers.

Then if add like mine its an individual things get more complicated again as the factory issued individual models ( fiji , orinoco , morar etc ) were produced for a time period and not a fixed production run of a certain number cars so some individual models are super rare .

So after all that basically what i am saying is you will probably find it difficult to get some fixed ideas on numbers ;)

Stephen.

I’d be more concerned that BMW have given up supplying certain parts exclusive to the 3.0 ( don’t break a drive shaft for instance) .

Alan, I currently have a 2.2 and a 3.0. I've previously tried to find out how many of my Individual 2.2s there are left.....with very little success :(.
If you have any luck with the 3.0, there are lots of peeps on here who would be interested ;)
