Hi all,

Thought I would share some piccies of the Roadster Solutions wind deflector fitted today :) The perspex is held in place by a pair of rubberised brackets held in position with 3M tape. I was a little dubious regarding this but after doing some searching of other owners fitting this deflector it seems upto the job and remains firm at speed. Install took 15 minutes, just making sure you clean the hoops thoroughly before attaching the brackets and doing it on a warm day 70F or above :) Just need a steady hand to align each bracket and putting firm pressure for 30 secs or so. Was surprised how firm they are now. The perspex is a tightish fit which pushes down and locks into place, with it being a tight fit it helps keeping pressure on the brackets against the hoops.

Very pleased with the looks as errs on the side of an OEM install but after a drive well upto 40mph for the moment I can honestly say it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to inside the cabin, :-\ haven't tried with the windows up at higher speeds so might be an improvement there :)

A few pics :)

Cheers,

Tim.

Thanks Snoops, Kermit was driving :coolsteer)

The Z4 is exactly the same length as my previous 1 Series but a bit wider and quite a lot wider than the Z3, which takes getting used to if you don't to remove the mirrors and scrape the alloys #:-s

=)) :ymblushing: :ymblushing:

I'm guessing if the brackets were longer they wouldn't fit as well with the hoops curving. The OEM deflector is only included as part of the storage package which includes ski hatch, small dash compartment and cupholders in the centre armrest which costs £10,000 so skipped on it :) The OEM deflector if bought seperately from BMW is around £275 for a piece of plastic, you then need new hoop covers at £50 and brackets at £40 so starts getting pricey :(

Haha well it does for a bit of plastic that looks ugly x_x

Basil is much happier now and showed him his carbon fibre splitters today that I'm going to get around to fitting :)

Still don't know what to do for winter, I'm half looking at Suzuki Jimnys for upto 2K as they look like a bit of fun, not sure I want to mess around with another set of winter wheels for the Z4 :-?

What do you do for your Zeddy? over winter?

The same as I do over summer really.... he lives in a garage but he comes out to get driven and cleaned, I drive him in all weather... always have done. I just make sure he's washed thoroughly before putting him back in there...he's also got a posh indoor cover now too :D

If it makes sense to get the Jimny for practical reasons then go for it... zeds are not really practical... I have a golf that I wouldn't be without it's so practical.

Look forward to the piccys of the CF splitters - clocks ticking now Tim - let's see how long it takes you to fit them ;)

Thanks Snoopy Snoops :ymhug: do you use the Golf or the Zed in the snow? I'm just wandering how Basil would be in the white stuff :coolsteer) withy standard rubber, its the runflats which are completely hopless.

The practicality side isn't so bad as the Z4s boot with the roof up isn't far off my previous 1 Series, its lovely and roomy its just I know if we get any snow and away from home the Z4 would have to be left where its parked as like my 1 Series seriously bad in the snow, don't really fancy doing that.

I bought the hood cover for Basil and works a treat :) haha well will try and get the splitters fitted soon ;)
