Last ever Royal Navy S61 Seaking flight from Prestwick today.....Royal Navy Search and Rescue Seakings have been a fixture here in the twenty years I've worked here, rescuing the in need in all that time in all weathers with great professionalism,so sad to see them go....as footnote, their replacements GOVSAR,are Bristows S92.Apologies for the crap picture through the "office" window

End of an era. Many of us have grown up and become accustomed to seeing the Seaking flying around our coasts and mountains, some of us may have been in need of their dedicated crews in time of need. Sad day indeed.
I don't suppose the S92's are painted yellow too are they?

I had the good fortune to a winch training session with Rescue 125 some years back. It was on Oulton Broad which was quite tight for what we were doing. Driving an RNLI RIB into the downwash and transfering crew whilst underway at about 10-15knts

When I was winched in, we'd run out of space so 125 had to do a circuit of Oulton Broad at quite low level to start another run. I was sat in the open doorway with legs hanging out, waving to people in their gardens, not sure they were quite so amused! Great memory, and fortunately never had to work with them in anything other than training

Been on to many of these Eurocopter EC225

Too many end up upsidedown in the North Sea for my liking. I'm happy knowing I'll never need to use one again!
