The amount that the wings and elevators flex even a few seconds after the plane is on the ground is astonishing. And the size of the rudder and how quickly he gets full deflection :eek:

'Tis correct mate. The Tristar used to crab like a b*****d when landing down the Falklands on occasion. Surprisingly these things only have a mid 30 knot crosswind capability when landing. The Phantom was good to watch coming in sideways :D

Phantoms didn't care which way they flew. All that noise was enough to keep them in the air.

Phantoms didn't care which way they flew. All that noise was enough to keep them in the air.
That's a fact mate, lived at Bruggen, Germany, in the 70's where they had 4 Squadrons, rattle your bloody fillings out. Great kite :D
