G'day good peeps.....

Been running around the USA and the Continent a stack recently and so the Zed hasn't been very busy. Who else is missing the sun...?

Annoyingly....jumped in the Zed tonight (my missus wanted to take it this evening) to make sure all was good and that the slow puncture got topped up, as I have been planning on changing wheels and so didn't wanna get it fixed.....anyhoo...took it round the block....first touch of brakes and it felt like ABS engaged and now the ABS, Brake, DSC and tyre monitor are all on! Hoping it's a speed sensor or something......bloody typical that I've left the Golf R at an airport for a few days and need the Zed!! Any ideas?

Get a code reader and clear the codes, make sure that your battery is fully charged and then try it again. A weak battery has a habit of lighting the dash lights.

The feeling of the ABS could just be rusty disc from being stood. Low battery the other issue.

When this happened to me it was a wheel sensor that needed replacement.

Thanks all.....I am staring to suspect a wheel sensor. Battery is a good one...no bother starting...no slow turns...can sit for weeks and still start. Pretty sure it wasn't a rusty disc causing that ABS "chatter" (I'm a pretty experienced driver and know rusty discs from ABS...unless you're saying that a rusty disc could cause the ABS light t-tony?). I saw that all the lights except brake light, was amber. I haven't had a chance today, but will have a look....could the brake fluid be a bit low?

To be honest the only time I've felt the ABS effect is when you get a broken or bent reluctor ring on a driveshaft on a front wheel drive. Never felt it from a rear wheel or one with a magnetic pick up. That said it still could be a sensor but I doubt it. Please let us know what you find.

Tony.

That’s interesting mate. I went and had a drive this evening (to fetch us a takeaway!!) and the lights were all still one (and they’re not lying....there’s no doubt that there was no DSC or ABS...that’s for sure!!). I guess I should double check fluid level etc, but I think I’ve read somewhere that swollen/corroded rings on the driveshafts can cause these lights....I will have a dig around. I’ve got my mate having a look round it this week (he owns a garage nearby...). Honestly Tony, I don’t know where i would start looking to find a faulty sensor....do you think it would log a code?
