Seat belt guides

Hi, anyone tried replacing their z3 plastic seat belt guides, could do with any helpful tips. I understand the seat needs to be removed and the leather cover taken off!

I think @Sean d has done it a couple of times. You have to remove the seats from the car and then take the leather seat cover off the seat to access the fasteners I believe.

Hi, Jon have just done this mod, as repairing the guides me thinks a lot of trouble and you will only break them again

got these little bruts from southernboy aka Barry really well made and easy to fit so a happy bunny a pity BMW did not incorperate this in the design, that way they probably would have not boken in the first place.

I just got mine yesterday. Not fitted yet but they look really nice.

There is a very easy way to repair the guide AND still be able get the belt out of the guide.
I did this on my Z3. Cost was literally pennies. Search for it.

I have the same and they work a treat and look good too so its a win win.

Thanks all, unfortunately drivers guide has pulled out from seat & won't stay in! Also want to retain authentic look so ordered BMW replacements. Should be fine, will take my time.

That happened to mine last year, the star washer had pulled off from the back of the guide, I bought some new star washers and stripped it down but found the original star washer inside and it just needed pushing back on. It has been OK since.

The bottom star washer on my drivers seat has come loose, been meaning to do it for ages. Already had them apart as my seats came from a coupe and didn't have any guides so I installed them. Fairly simple to do but takes a while.

i repaired my 2.8s seat belt guides only to discover a few weeks later that the star washer was not on tight enough.. i used a small 1/4 socket to press the star washer on what i also did was put a small self tapping screw with a washer through the pin that the star washer sits on so theres no way the star washer can come loose again.. i did re-use the star washer too so i supopse i should have got some new ones.. but hey its not come off yet and i have driven it 2 or 3 times !!!
