I am having a big debate with the person I sold my Z to.
He called and said that he can not find the vin number that is supposed to be stamped over the wheel arch.
Told him that the Z has a black sticker in the engine bay and thats it.
He insists that it should have the serial imprinted on metal on the left side close to the coils.
He sent me some photos and I told him to check with the authorised service tomorrow.
Am I correct that there is no vin except the black sticker or I am buying my car back to avoid a law suit?

As far as I know the chassis number is stamped into the metal at the back of the engine bay.

Left? Right? Center?
The car is not mine anymore. I have to tell him where to look.

I've never seen the chassis number there but there was a thread on here recently talking about it.

Since he saw it and stopped disturbing my afternoon coffee time, it can be wherever it want.
One thing is for sure, the next time he calls me with an attitude he better have a dentist appointment booked.
he had been warned.

Isn't there a VIN visible at the bottom of the windshield. Bottom right if you are facing the front of the car
Νο. It never had that. Just a blank black plate.
I remember this clearly. I was told that euro-specs don’t have it there. (Now I am once again puzzled). Should there be also something there? I would really like to avoid buying this car back.

Do you stll have a problem? You said:

I always used to think that the one in the lower left corner of the windscreen was a proper stamped in number and that's where I've always looked. It's where MOT tester looks when he tests my car. But, apparently, that's just a sticker that could, in theory, be removed.

In Germany I've always seen it at the bottom corner of the windscreen but also stamped somewhere on the body where it can't easily be altered. For example fords have it stamped into the floor to the right of the driver's seat.

I just dig it out of curiosity. Since he found a stamped vin in the firewall, he can go cut his throat to any court or whatever else he wants to do.
it is just weird that there is no vin on the windshield.
But I am done with him. His attitude was the worst. He was swearing, telling he will go to the police and all that drama.
Apart from the sticker on the wheel arch, the car has a stamped vin, he saw it, end of story.

Do all your Zs have a windshield vin sticker?
All of mine have/had. First port of call for your MOT tester before he logs it onto the system for test.

Tony.
