I got myself a Z4 e89 in September with a BMW stamped service book. When I look at the book closely it has had oil changes ticked but when you analyse it all the other tick boxes have not been ticked as much as you would like, it appears that the book is being stamped for sort of an oil change. Decided to do an in between service myself, getting the car onto axel stands was probably the worst part so have not included this in the one and a half hour the service took. first job I plugged in my snap-on diagnostics it showed no faults, I changed engine oil/filter, air filter, took out spark plugs clean and check, cabin filter, manual gearbox oil change, checked brake pads disks plus bushes wheel bearing lights tyres etc, and no special tools required so plugged in diagnostics again job done. I have pictures and receipts for parts and oils etc proving quality oils and filter, is that not better than a service book showing very little????? One other thing I was amazed at how much nicer the gearbox felt after the oil change if yo haven't done this I would recommend it if you have a few miles on the car mine has just under 70,000.

Par for the course regarding dealer servicing, they only do oil and filter change for the intrim servicing, may be check over the car visually. The Inspection service when thats due involved brake check and brake fluid change over and above the usual engine oil and filter change. The gearbox and diff oils would not be changed as BMW fill for life, best do those changes yourself, its worth doing for better gearchanges with fresh oil in the box. Sounds like your on top of servicing your car, just keep up to date with it and attend to anything on MOT advisories that may crop up.

Your defiantly right when it comes to gearbox oil it made so much defiance to the gear change
