After watching @Rha thread on his induction shield/kit fit i looked in to sorting an induction kit for mine.
I looked and i suppose would have loved a Simota kit but couldn't justify the cost, or the skinflint in me said i could make one
Well brought the first filter locally but it just wasn't heafty enough for the 2.8 and it added nothing infact it lost power.
Not detered i took it back and got a bigger filter This gave the lost top end back so was happy.
Now comes the inspiration bit i wanted to create a ram air system and liked the shape of the Simota so looked to see what i could mod to fit so i brought this....... Bin inspiration from Roy....
Right kind of shape like a squashed bucket oval if you like.
The first one i cut short to get it to fit then with card mock it up the exact fit i wanted before cutting out the final shape .
Used a jigsaw and a fine blade as the plastic was a tad brittle being hit with anything too rough.
Well ended up with this....
Now this fitted well and as it was blue thought it may look ok but as it is a bin it needed fettling in my eyes to remove the bin look.
Had had it fitted but removed it as the exhaust was standard and it did add a bit but felt to me a little boy racer ish as it was all noise up front and quiet at the back.
So the exhaust was done cat back before christmas a nice deep tone and the customery pop and burble on let off.
So day off today i thought id have another revisit and with my newly aquired wrapping skills i wrapped the enclosure with carbon wrap to get the look i wanted.
To say it was an a**e to do is an understatement but i got to this....
So back to the car with it to see if it was more in keeping with the engine bay and heres the result.....
It certainly makes a difference now 3rd and 4th are supurb but not lost any get up and go in top end motorway speed.
Tickover has dropped and exhaust note has filled out further. Going to wrap the top rad hose to keep the heat away and will recold air feed as well.
It does pick up the airfeed that comes in on the light but another will not hurt.
Quite pleased lost its bin look and gave me a nice shape to boot
