Hi folks, sorry if this has been asked before - I have searched, but any sub-4 letter words, such as 'amp' are omitted from the query 🤦‍♂️

I am currently stripping my interior to rectify some soggy carpets, and while I'm at it, I want to investigate the RH footwell speaker not working. I have already replaced the speaker itself and the new one doesn't work either, so I am thinking wiring! I am planning on doing a continuity check on the wire from the amp connector to the speaker, and if that checks out, concluding that it is the amp, or something further upstream that's the issue.

I just came across this video on youtube (
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2hWoAt5emE
), describing an amp bypass. This guy has gone pretty gung-ho and chopped off the amp connector, crimping some spade connectors on to the wires instead, I was going to take the (slightly) more sophisticated approach of using jumpers instead, making my attempt completely reversible if need be - but before I do, has anyone done this before (or similar)?

I'm admittedly an audio noob, but am a little confused about why there is even an amp there if it's not needed with the standard audio, perhaps it was just to simplify construction in the factory??

Cheers

Not my photo but this is how mine is bypassed. I now have a CD43 headunit with a Bluetooth adapter, Vibe ISO Amp and Audison speakers.

Thanks both, I can't find any amps available on eBay or Marketplace, so I think I'll have a go with the 'reversible bypass' idea first

Maybe reading this thread can give you some insight. (Also alternative amp suggestions there).
