Looking to renovate existing seats. Lots of info re dying the sports seats, but has anyone done a colour change on the standard leatherette (BMW talk for fake leather) seats? as fitted to mine.
Possibly changing from black to blue including door card inserts Gear lever and hand brake gaiters.
Nice winter project!

Thought yours were sports seats mate?
Standard leather seats are just that, leather so treat them exactly the same as sport seats, its a piece of cake, :wtf:
Go on youtube and do your research, its not actually that difficult.

@Grumpy the ones I just saw on the link are definitely sport seats and definitely leather.
I know the leatherette seats because I had them on my earlier 1.9i, they came both in sport and standard version.
The thing that differenciate the leatherette (vynil) is that they have a sort of weave in the center section.
I am not sure they can be threated same as real leather when it comes to dyeing...o_O

You can buy paint for vinyl, leather clinic sell it and they can mix various colours for you

These are my seats, do look like leather?View attachment 42335 View attachment 42336
Yep treat them the same as the sport seats, the centre panels are oregon and the outer is probably nappa, preparation is the key, make sure you remove all the exhisting top coat before you start to redye them, assuming you are going to use dye that is.

Thanks for the clarification, its Leather!
The seats will be spending some time in doors, will be a great project when the weather turns.
Preparation, preparation and more preparation seems the key (sorry for the pun)
Hoping for a transformation and looking forward to the end result
