Hi everyone. After a lot of searching I've bought a 1997 1.9 Z3 - Atlanta Blue with red leather - it has 118,000 miles and loads of history..... All for just £1,750. Its a second car and treated as my first ever hobby / project.

I'm still getting to know precisely what I've bought (It takes a couple of thousand miles before you really work it out I reckon) but have already read some other posts of potential projects with interest. The aim is to keep it long term and slowly bring it back to a really good original condition and (probably) keep SORN'd in the winter. So far all the basics look really good and with the limited fiddling I've done, I'm really impressed how easy it is to work on. Great weather for a soft top too!

So - I'll be back with lots of questions when I've worked out what I'm doing in what order. I'll post some photos soon.....

Welcome Tommo great car for a project and as you say the mechanics are on the whole quite easy to work on which again is great for any diy mechanic.
Lots of people here to assist with those jobs you may need info on , just ask and someone will point you striaght im sure.

:welcome: Tommo from Warrington. I'm sure you'll enjoy tinkering with your Z. I had a BMW E30 as a daily driver/project before my zed and that was easy to work on too. Enjoy!

Welcome Tommo. The Z3 is the perfect home mechanics car, so easy to work on and with a few tools and a dry area to work you can do the most ambitious of tasks on them!

Shout out when you have the questions, we are all sat waiting for them now
