has anyone solved this m44 problem successfully other than swapping the oil and filter?

Is this a common problem? Never heard of it...
I allways change oil and filter every 10.000km or less

does your m44 not have an odd idle on start-up from cold? mine runs on 3 or sometimes 2 cylinders for about 4-5 seconds on start-up.

In early winter I had it one time, when it was several weeks since it was fired up. Is the problem that the valves does not open?

no they stay open, not all of them, think it depends which ones are open when the engine is switched off, they soon free them selves, one time I stalled the engine and when I tried to turn it over it sounded as though just the starter and ring gear was turning freely but not winding the motor over, then one cylinder started to get compression then another and so on till all 4 were ok again. it was tuning over very fast as though there were no spark plugs in the cylinders.
