Yesterday I've nearly caused an accident. Not I am braked intensively, the speed was about 40mph, and I decelerating to turn right (with indicator on, too), but it seems the old Mitsubishi truck behind me didn't realised I am braking at all, causing him to brake with a lot of tyre smoke. I am really sorry about the guy, he was clearly very angry...

I've checked my stop lights, and found that on full sunlight they are quite dim. The middle brake light almost useless too at sunny day.

I take the brake dynamics of Z4 is not worst than acceleration, and I really don't wan't to end up with something sticking to my cars boot, so is there something to do about stoplight, or should I just blame Mitsubishi driver and relax?

As stated, brighter bulbs will help but I suspect the driver behind you wasn't concentrating as it's obvious (to me) when a car in front is slowing down even without the brakes being applied.

Actually just got pair of osrams from my garage storage and they made a difference indeed! Interestingly, the bulbs I've removed was still operational, but black inside, stamped with 2004Y production date. Good quality I must say!

But what to do with boot light? It is utter rubbish. It has a crack, and when I removed it just disintegrated. I've soldered new LEDs instead of died and reassembled unit using epoxy resin last week. The weather was cloudy so I did not realised how bad light is. Maybe there is brighter aftermarket part available somewhere? I am sure I won't be able to disassemble unit again without destroying it...

Just buy a replacement light unit and fit it, after all it's for your own safety!
