Strange one - anyone have an idea?

Missus calls on the way to work today, stuck in the snow. I go out to rescue in the Z3 Anyway get her unstuck, wave her happily off as she drives into the distance.....then I get stuck ~x( Anyway after about 30 mins of rocking backwards and forwards etc I finally get going, but....... my ABS and traction control lights have come on???? Checked for any ECU faults and there are none. Left the car for an hour or so, tried again still no luck.

So any ideas why getting stuck in the snow could do this? My thought is a sensor somewhere has got water/snowed up, hence why I left it to defrost on the drive. But still got the problem (although it wouldn't have dried off, just defrosted possibly)

Other question, is there a hard reset I can try? Ie maybe the sensor has water ingress and needs resetting?

Any help would be really appreciated, I'm really p***** off as I'm in the process of selling the car so could really do without lights on the dash!!

If you have been slipping in the snow and spinning the wheels quite a bit the asc can get confused and chuck up a fault because it thinks that there must be a sensor fault due to the differnce in rear to front wheel rotation. If you give it a few ignition cycles it will probably turn off on its own if not then it could well be as you say a damp abs sensor. Give it a day or two and see if it clears after s few drives and if it doesn't it's time to get a scanner connected and see what fault code it is throwing up.

Put it in the garage and let it dry out for a while, Mark. Jf that doesn't work try disconnecting and then re-connecting the battery after 5 mins, make sure everything is switched off before you disconnect.

Cheers guys. it will be going back into the (heated) garage tomorrow :inbed time to get the Exige out for the first time since I've had it So I'll disconnect the battery, stick it on the trickle charger and check it again in a few days :-^

Ok removed all four ABS sensors, gave them a clean, disconnected the battery for 15mins and........... lights are still on ~x(

The only thing left to try is to take it for a drive, I've heard that can help reset it all?? If that doesn't work I've obviously got a faulty sensor. Bit of a coincidence that it became faulty just as I was stuck in the snow :-?

So failing this is off to an Indy to get them to run diagnostics to identify which sensor has gone down. Good news is its a very simple job to get them out.

Wha-hoo. Sent the missus out in the Z instead of her car, she arrives back after a 5 mile round trip and all the lights have cleared Must have just been a dirty sensor, not surprising after the amount of crap I kicked up trying to get it unstuck from the snow/mud
