Hi,

I'm planning on dropping front and rear subframes on my 2.2i Z3 over the next few months for general renovation.
Is there any advantage to strengthening them with the kits available whilst they are out, or is this really only needed for track cars?

Thanks

I’ve been very interest in this topic. My Z is on the path to be a drift car. My spot welds are ALL (currently) in tact, I have yet to take a good look at my diff mount recently but I intend to. Would the Randy Forbes kit, or something similar be worth investing in BEFORE I have any damage? I’m unable to tell if the previous owner took the liberty of doing any welding or if that’s stock. Opinions? 🤔

Photo details: this is my trunk, you can see all the spot welds. I had some rust in my battery well from a lost rubber retainer on the bottom right by the battery box drain line, I sanded it away the best I could until I find my small steel brush attachment. Any links to find that rubber retainer would be great too! I included a photo of where it’s missing from. I’ve got a rag stuffed into it in the mean time. ☠

If your spot welds are fine and you're just doing normal driving I wouldn't bother.
Thanks very much for the reply...I think all my spot welds are fine, so when i do the removal job i'll leave it all standard.

Measure the hole size then buy a closed rubber grommet to suit.
