In doing the upgrade to my suspension I've found that there was a reinforcement plate fitted on the drivers side, and one missing from the nearside. I'm assuming that at some point the nearside strut was removed and the plate didn't go on..... or am I wrong?

I'm considering not refitting it as I'm fitting a strut brace and the top plates will do a similar job.

The M's should have the reinforcement plates because of the castor on the struts and the stiffer shock/springs the forces on the strut towers are greater. A strut brace will help but I would recommend fitting the missing one, I think there are some on eBay at the moment but don't forget the gaskets which are only a couple of quid from BMW.
