Not the best job in the world, but I find it satisfying when they’re done Malc. They look good, a coat of ceramic sealer will help keeping them easier to clean too.

Just been looking to order some tyres....and it would appear that you cant get Avon ZV7’s in 225/50 R16 now.

But there is a 225/55 R16........would that be an ok replacement ?

Although perhaps I should go for something else as there is loads of tread left on them , but they are cracking round the tyre in the bottom of the tread.

I would go with the 55 series if the price is right Malc. Slightly more MPG?

Carried on today as nice and sunny today….

First cleaned the spare drive shafts and the wheel hubs …. I know someone that lives not too far away and just might need a set  =))
86068D11-C1FD-46BE-9F1A-6DFCD79A1369.jpeg

Also cleaned up the spare diff…. ( ie removed all the old gasket) fitted a new one but only put all the bolts in finger tight as the cover will have to come off to fit a new bush. Its now ready to be shot blasted.

Then a bit more on the 1.9 … trying to get the the shut lines a bit better
Had to remove the arch liner ….

well they are better now …. But cant adjust the front bumper, so best I can get them for now

but with all the front end ‘ modifications’ that this car has had in the last few years , its not too bad=))=))

Then a bit of painting of the diff I will be using on the 2.8
Bushed , Oiled and ready to go !!!

How do you adjust the bonnet to bumper? My bonnet sits a bit proud on the one side and I need to pull it forward. Had a quick look and dont see that its fixed for and aft in any fashion.

Bit of adjustment on the hinges but you need about 3 people to do it … The bonnet is bloody heavy!!!!

There is adjustment on the front bumper.
Each side under the arch liner there is a bracket that has some adjustment, and there are height adjusters on the bumper mounts, but these are usually seized !!!!!!
You remove the main torx bolt from underneath and insert a 14mm hex and hope you can turn the plastic insert inside the bumper mount. :arghh:

Today was painful…. Not physically but mentally….😱😱

Ordered 4 new tyres and gone for 225/55R16
but not Avon…. Everyone locally say wouldn’t use them any more … quality gone way down hill !!!!

so that was practically £500 :arghh:

so thought I cheer myself up and do my favourite job……. Cleaning:whistle:
EA1C8DDD-C792-4DA1-AE9A-222EBEE108B4.jpeg

All the surplus bits but worth doing in case any use to someone.

Second coat on the diff
image.jpg

then on checking the oil , water etc on the 1.9
Found the bonnet earth wire was broken….
So removed it
4EA440E3-9702-42AE-B42E-F273DF14469B.jpeg

Been soldered before??
3066B46C-30E3-4735-A804-2BAAFDEE34C2.jpeg

but a blast from a blowlamp
E164B23B-CC7F-4CBD-A2EE-86CDCE7FA2D7.jpeg

And cleaned it all out…
E6B0C0B2-1A01-4034-874E-755A5B6B7582.jpeg

not the best crimping I’ve ever done but the vice does flatten it:whistle:

it was at this stage ….. I realised I was wasting my time=))
Re-fitted it and it was being strained as the bonnet closed….?????
So removed the one from the 2.8
70583315-EFEA-4B9C-9AC8-D7619EAD4540.jpeg

This has had a couple if breaks… hence the solder:arghh:
So put the one from the 2.8 on and will have to replace it….. ( @spurs fan in a coupe )

Then I had a text asking me to do a gig with a local radio station at The Goodwood Revival
For all three days…… wow !!!!!!!!

when ? ……. 8-10 sept ……..:arghh::arghh:

that weekend I’m up in Lincoln on Tony’s cruise. So had to say no.
Still might get to do it next year:thumbsup:

But nice to know they think I am good enough to do a gig like that ….. so not all bad =))=))=))

Edit……
Oh and just to say
When you put the diff on its side…. Tilt it a bit…. Or oil comes p****** out the vent hole

I've got some copper braided earth strap if you need a piece Malc. Let me know how long you need it to be and I'll have it ready for you.
