I bought these from Walmart a while ago along with the white strips I installed last weekend in the sides of my boot for added light in the corners. I tested a Volvo the other day and noticed that even with the lights off, when I opened the tailgate the rear lights illuminated. I thought that is not a bad idea, if you are unloading the boot on a dark or even street lit road you are at risk of being hit.
Today I applied these strips to the outer edges of the boot lid, with some tape, outside of the seal area and "wired" them to the cig lighter just to see the effect. I was quite impressed. No drilling required, easily removable if need be.019.jpg

This is still daylight, albeit on a gloomy afternoon.

Nearly dark.

Now fully dark and very noticeable.

I think I may make this a "permanent fixture" over the Christmas break.

You are correct that on not well lit places you can get hit.
But then, shouldn't you leave them on all the time?....as the car might get hit when parked.
With leds not taking much Watts these days, would these drain the battery quickly? (I personally don't think so)

Regards, Koen

@Stormy_be, I think one would need an awful lot of LEDS on all the time to kill a battery. They draw so little power individually compared to the old style bulbs which not only created light but also heat which had to be accounted for. All the best over the holidays. I have such wonderful memories of Belgium, JIM
