I bought a 1996 Z3 1.9i last summer as a hobby car, it was in a very bad condition with ~150 000km in the odometer. It has been coming together nicely by throwing a lot of new parts at it. I've replaced the entire suspension, every bushing, all the pulleys, fixed the broken mirrors, the interior, etc.
Today I wondered out of curiosity about the mileage, as the car was in such a shape that the mileage didn't seem realistic, even though the seats are in mint condition. No wear whatsoever on them. I found out about the tamper dot and *drum roll* there it shines, the omnious purple dot in the cluster, confirming my suspicions. Is there a way I could see the original mileage on the other places it's stored in? From what I read it's stored in 3 different places and if the difference is over 200km the tamper dot becomes active.
Knowing what the original mileage is, would be obviously important as I need to know what parts to change. The chain or some other engine components for example.
I have ISTA but I'm missing the adapter for the pre-historic OBD plug, whatever it's called.
Thanks for reading.
