Tamper Dot

Hi all,

I just bought an 2000 M Roadster about 3 weeks ago with 36K KM. In the purchase process I demanded to have the car checked by the local BMW dealership. The report came back with a tamper dot on as well as the air bag light. There was no explanation on the report other than it needs diagnosis. I met with service advisor and asked about both of them. He said there's no sign of tampering with the cluster and everything seems in place. Also he mentioned that the car was bought new from them and have all the dealer records confirms the millage on the car which rolls out tampering suspicion.

Based on that report from them I proceeded with the purchase.

I'm wondering what could possibly be the reason?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

Someone has played with the system that’s for sure. BMW themselves should be able to remove the tamper dot.

Tamper dot means Cluster and ECU not agreeing on some of the values - they can realign them but it will take whichever has the higher mileage
