I've had the front bumper, Indicator panels, sills, leading edge of bonnet and mirrors resprayed. All done by a friend of the family to a very high standard. Really chuffed with the work he's done.To save money, i used the excellent guides on here about the removal of the mirrors and sills which saved a lot of time and frustration. So big thanks to all who have taken the time to put these processes into words and pics.

At the same time, i had the wheels refurbished, also really pleased witht the end result. Now waxed and back on the car again.

Hopefully a pic or two below......





To do list is now a little smaller, rear bumper adjustment, rear window to be polished, brakes to be painted.....

The car looks gorgeous. You've done a splendid job. If it drives as well as it looks it'll give you huge pleasure.

The resources available through forums are of huge benefit to those that want to restore or just fault find on their cars. You are right to sing their praises. Well done.

Forgot to mention that I recently used the brake system guide to fix a sticking rear caliper, so more money saved and experience gained.

I couldn't agree more, the wiki and advice from forum members saved me somewhere in the region of £600 in the first 3 mths of ownership, the jobs to be done were easy enough, and the parts cheap and easy to source, but throw in BMW labour charges and OEM parts and it can get very expensive very quickly, so it's also a thanks from me to to the learned gents on the forum..

Hi Joey, good to hear of your experiences too. I 've lurked here pretty much since the site was set up, it really enhances the ownership of these wee cars, doesnt it?
Yes it's a 2002 2.2 sport in Estoril blue. Is yours Atlanta blue? I always liked the Bond colour, it was seeing it in Goldeneye that first got me interested in the Z3 though it was nearly a decade later before i bought this one.

yup it is the atlanta blue, and it was goldeneye that brought the Z3 to my attention as well!...always wanted one and was like a kid at christmas when I got mine...

set out to find an atlanta blue 1.9 M44 with a tan and walnut interior as per ''bond spec'' and found exactly that, the only difference is the wheels which I will be changing at my earliest convenience, then it will be identical to the bond one. (except for the engine which I think was the M43b 1.8 in the film)

the only other Z I would be interested is the one you have the 2.2 sport, i'm sure that extra 30 bhp makes a big difference,and I really like the wider rear on those,in my opinion the smaller engined z's are a better match for the chassis capabilities as well as being more reliable and practical,but i'm sure there will be some 2.8,3.0 and 3.2 owners who will heartily disagree with that statement!..

am aiming to do a remap and cold air intake to improve throttle response and acceleration as well as upgrading the suspension with some poly bushes and the ARB's of of a 2.8,
with some 17'' style 18 wheels this should make the car even more fun to drive!.

Bet you will love it even more with all those mods.

I like my 2.2, it's more car than i can actually use as i'm quite a slow laid back kinda driver. Having said that, I've seen 3 Z3M's in the metal, Imola red, Black and Dakar Yellow. They were all amazing to look at and listen to. Definately room in my dream lottery win garage for one of those.

Next years project for the 2.2 is to replace all the bushes and maybe try the eibach/bilstein kit..... back to reading the wikis

hi bessie, it was a place called lester engineering in Lisburn here in sunny Northern Ireland. £60 per corner, they really needed it.....

just got a front strut brace from automax racing for £65, bid on two others the same which went for over £90. just got to fit it now when weather improves

Sounds like a bargain. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the brace when you've had a chance to try it out.
