Some of you will have watched my Z3 come along in the last year or so. I had mentioned to Tony about a month ago that I had bought a Z4 3.0 auto in silver and was collecting it on the 12th of November.

Here is the Z3 first of all.....

And here is the Z4.....

I'm sad to say, it really wasn't what I was expecting. I know this opinion won't be that popular but I was expecting it to be far far more refined over the Z3, and in some ways it was a little bit more so, but not enough to win me over. Not even close actually. You'll be getting the jist of where I'm going here, yep, it's already gone. So whilst the Z3 has been sorn'd till the spring, here what has replaced the Z4....

Yeah Jack, this one has 89k on it, with a great history, every receipt/invoice has been placed into a folder along with all keys and original books etc. Its had lowering links added to it but because of the variable height adjustment system you can run it normal, or at the touch of a button, drop it 30mm below standard and turn into a nutter again ;).

I went through the same curve! I did enjoy my time with the Z4, but I just preferred driving the Z3 more.
It just didn't do anything for me Gaz, it was faster than the Z3 of course, but just did not make me smile in the same way.

I think your 3 is stunning the 3 is a little rawrer than the 4 and i think that adds more to the driving experience.
The 4's replacement looks very smart great choice

Got to just love an old Merc @Lexybhoy...
But seeing as you were looking for a two seater when you bought the 4 and did not get on with it, I would have gone for one of these....

I did consider other 2 seater soft tops, but quickly realised a four seater made more sense, and would've went for either soft or hardtop tbh but the CL came along and I didn't want anything else.

Before I bought the Z4, I was looking at 330 m sports but I couldn't find a decent one.

Thanks antm72, the Z3 is definitely is raw'er. I think that's what I love about it. It has a quad exhaust conversion and is really loud so whilst it makes me smile from ear to ear when I drive it, I really couldn't live with the volume as a daily driver.

Lovely car Lex. I worked for merc for a while. They do however have one weak point being a water trap where the back of the sill meets the bottom of the rear wheel arch. Just a friendly note mate. Enjoy your new toy, I'm pretty certain you will!

Me too....just got rid of this too, my wife misses it more than me right enough....had the airmatic suspension which put my 64 plate E Class to shame.

Private plate from previous owner on it here

Then the original plate which I thought looked odd :)

Someone mentioned that Grumpy, but I was never really sure of where exactly to look for it. I just made sure I got one that had no rust and no signs of having been painted in its life.
