This would be ok to drive to the garage with, right?

Sheared bolt, one of the two at the bottom of the front strut.

I didn't want to use the impact wrench on this, but since the last person in here used red loctite, I had no choice. And somehow in getting the gun into position it switched from loosen to tighten with inevitable results.

i have worked up through my bolt extractors, but what it left of the bolt is just shredding the extractors. I've tried heat, I've tried cold. The carcass of the bolt is not coming out 😔

including the little nubbin between those two bottom bolts, there are 4 contact points between the strut and the hub, do we think I'd be ok to put it all back together missing that bolt while I take it (gently) to a professional to rescue me?

I would put a slimmer nut and bolt through it to drive it to a garage.

Could maybe fix it yourself. Drill it out and put in a thread insert.
I'm a bodger. Don't do this at home. I might consider drill it out and retap it to a bigger size/bigger nut no messing with inserts but then the bolt hole in the strut might need reaming a tiny bit.

Thanks both, some great ideas. The hole is just too small for an M8 and I'd rather not drill it any wider unless I'm all out of options, so I'm going to put it all back together and order some M7 bolts. I'll bolt it up with that and then take it to a garage next week.

Change of plan, I have checked RealOEM and the knuckle and hub are the same part numbers between my 1.9 and 2.8, so I've ordered a balljoint splitter and am going to steal it from the 1.9 instead.

Sadly the only running the 1.9 is going to do now will be onto the back of a flatbed, so it seems pointless to bodge my new project car while the parts I need are sitting on my driveway destined for the scrap yard
