has anybody got any experience using a tilting ramp while working on the Z3
I have some work I want to do under the car and a tilting ramp seems a good option, but I don't want to buy and find it's not all it's cracked up to be.
I have been looking and they are around £500 new occasional 2nd hand ones on Ebay.
Any advice ?

Pete, @gookah did have one of these. He may be able to advise you?

Hi, I don’t have the experience of working with them but from what pics I’ve seen they can obscure gear box and tunnel work but for dealing with the front subframe forward and rear beam backwards look a good tool to use for access to those areas. Have a look on gookah threads and you will see some pics in use.

I spoke to the supplier and he told me that they are not rated for lifting the whole care and tilting. One axle had to be on the ground at all times. He said.

That's easily sorted. Blocks of wood and let the wheels rest of the wood.

I put batteries in the boot to make it lift at close to the point of balance, just keep adding cut down sleepers front and rear until the car's at the correct height to work on. Old milk bottle crates would be ideal.

Most of the time I only want to work on one end of the car, so the other end stays on the ground.

The biggest PITA is that the frame is about half an incj taller than the bottom of the car, so you have to drive onto a small ram before you can slide the frame under.

I was thinking that normally you would want to just have one end raised anyway, and don't think I'm a pessimist :( but I would not be happy under there without axle stands anyway.
Thanks guys much appreciated

No wonder I can never find a decent block of wood when I want one. Pingu's got them all.

I was considering a tilting lift. But eventually decided on this

I'm loving it.

Perfect for working beside the car. Don't get under it often but when I do I have a couple of long 2t stands that I slide under.

They're well worth the wait though.
