Mine came on this morning, and to be fair the car was a little slippy at the back end. Pulled over and indeed the tyre was visibly flat. Pumped 30psi of air in to it to get to ATS, and they can't find anything wrong with the tyre, the seal or valve.

Ho hum. Now sat at home waiting to see if it's going to go back down again.

But this is the first time ever that the TPWS has worked! Only ever given me false alerts on other cars I've had with it.

Mine came on just before Christmas, standard tyres not run flats, pulled over to find my o/s front brake caliper was binding, the wheel etc. was red hot, I assume this overinflated the tyre and caused the warning. Cooled everything back down, released the caliper and drove on my way, warning light disappeared.

10 points for guessing what I'm doing this morning?

My tyre pressure warning light is on all the time :p
It came on when the MOT was done , the tyres are at the right pressure ;)
I just need Alan to programme it again to turn it off :)

The Z4 sensors work of f the wheel speed, I had a very slow leak of pressure on my right rear wheel which turned out to be the valve seat on the rim. Seems very odd for you to have a dead flat tyre with no culprit Gaz.

Not very useful sensor if it only comes one once you lost 30psi!
It's more like a totally flat tyre sensor.

A lot of tyres lose air over a long period of time. Worrying that the tyre was so flat before the warning came on.
The warning light came on in Gail's car a short while ago. It was spot on - pressure down to about 15psi. Of course on RFTs it's difficult to tell when they are low. No reason and it's been fine since.
When I started driving you checked tyres regularly. We're all getting lazy nowadays.

The problem with all but the latest bmw tpms is that it uses the abs so less accurate as using wheel speed variance to recognise a puncture so various other factors can also cause false alarm like road conditions seized brakes etc.
All the new bmw's now use internal valve pressure sensors which are far more accurate and can also relay other info such as battery life and internal temperature of the tyre to the car but that means they are coded to position on car and less straight forward to swap wheels for different types as still need right sensor or new set coded.
All vehicles built after jan 1st 2012 will fail mot for tpms light on .
Cars built before jan 1st 2012 its only an advisory.
On 1st November 2012 all new type approved vehicles to have tpms fitted
On 1st November 2014 all vehicles sold as new to have tpms fitted so from that date pretty much everyone has valve monitor tpms

I should also say it it important if you have this style of tpms not to fit metal dust caps (seize on new sensors needed ) Also when getting tyre change done if alloy tpms valve especially if valve core replacement getting done must be a nickel plated core or will react with the valve
