ten staggared
18s are normal for z4, 245 is the width of the tyre, they are often staggered meaning the fronts may have 225 width tyres, I had z4 wheels style 108 with the above set up so yours may well be perfectly normal

Are the fronts 245 if so that might be the issue and are the fronts rubbing, it would help if you post a pic of your wheels, someone on here will know what tyres they should have on

Is it possible that someone has fitted the rear wheels on the front? OR has had the wheels split and has built them together incorrectly?

Tony.

Has the car suspension been lowered and has the car had spacers fitted?

It really depends what was specified at new purchase and if the wheels have been changed since.

Here's the options as new

18 inch staggered set up should be 8J - 225/40/18 front 8.5J - 255/35/18 rear you need to check the tyre size on your car front and rear. As said if 255s are on the front that's probably the problem, assuming the wheels are standard.

I have 245 on front and 245 on rear!
I would say that is incorrect for both front and back, but depending what size wheels you have, the wheel width will be stamped on the inside of the wheels, when you take it to the garage ask them to check, if they are staggered the wider wheels should be on the rear and the tyre sizes should be as I quoted. If the wheels are the same width (square set up) but 18inch then I would suggest they are incorrect for that car (unless someone can advise otherwise) as the square set up should be 17inch wheels (width 8J all round) If you go to a decent independent tyre outlet they will advise you.

Hope that makes sense

Potentially one of two problems.

I suspect that someone has taken square set up MV2s off another car. I believe they were fitted to other BMWs in square set up (same width all round).
It's the width and the relevant offset that determines how the wheels fit in the wheel arches. You may have to fit different wheels, but first determine the size wheels and their respective offsets are and then you can use an online checker to see how those tyres/wheels impact the critical edges of the tyre. You can then see where the potential for rubbing occurs. That is all something that your local garage can do.

It is possible however that someone has instead squeezed the same size tyres on all four wheels (8J front and 8.5J rear). The pictures don't seem to show that might be the case, but worth checking. That is problematic in that if they have the same aspect ratio then two of the tyres (if not all) will have the wrong diameter and hence rolling circumference. That can affect the handling and even the drive train because of incorrect gearing. Consequently, your speedo may also be incorrect.

Need to establish exactly what wheels and tyres you have on the car.
