I'm a little concerned about the vanoson my zed. It seems a bit noisyand rattly. I'm considering whether to get it all serviced/replaced or just get new seals and filters and see if that cures it. Any advice?

Here's a fire up video:

I've ordered the seal and filter kit from mr vanos to see if that cures it. Lookingthrough the service history it's never been serviced!

The seals are good for preventing leaks. I would suggest that you may want to look to get a replacement vanos from Mr Vanos, as it sounds as though the bearings have gone

Yep you have the famous vanes growl there just like I had. I am afraid a seal kit won't eradicate the noise as it needs a total overhaul/replacement. I had mine done last year by mr vanos which wasn't cheap but made a hell of a difference to the running of the engine and performance. One thing that most people don't realise is that included in the work that he does is the valve clearances and also replaces a large shim/washer on the end of the inlet camshaft which you have to take the camshaft out to do, without doing this your vanos would wear out again in 30k miles that is why he gives the vanos he fits a lifetime warranty. After all that the cams are retimed up ensuring maximum performance is restored. He is also extremely meticulous in what he does and I think is well worth the money for peace of mind as like yourself I considered doing it myself and deliberated over it for a while but after speaking to him over the phone I realised there was far more to the job than what you read on the Internet.

Here is the write up I did at the time with videos

I'll ring him up today - @BMBabe if you are interested and you can get up to my garage in Northampton, I'll ask him if it's any interest for him to do two in one day. Is yours a single vanos?

I've tried ringing him today.....he seems a little elusive....

I need to get mine done pretty sharpish to be honest as I'm going to wales in it next month. Depending on the difference in cost I may just driver it up to Darlington - depends what he charges for call out

Try emailing him as that is how I made first contact. When I spoke to him I got the impression he is in quite some demand and had to try ringing a few times myself however he did reply to my emails.

Yeah you can but I do advise getting it done at your earliest convenience, @BMBabe yours was running low vanos oil pressure for a while so definitely get it done.

So, after a brief conversation I'm going to get mine booked in on the 31st May - is that too early for you?
