A little-known fact about the BMW badge:
The blue and white chequered roundel doesn't exactly represent the flag of Bavaria, it's rather the contrary from the bavarian flag which is officially white and blue – the order is important: when the BMW badge was created it was strictly forbidden to use official flags by anyone else than the governmental authorities, so BMW decided to slightly alter the flag in order to avoid consequences.
