Hi,

Bit of advise needed, when you guys do drives do you use walkie talkies - and what models you use.

Been looking at Kenwood devices - and seem popular with bikers?

Last time I used one with a mate heading in to Wales we picked up a local road crew discussing what to have for lunch, so make sure they have plenty of channels to choose from.

One of the issues as usual with a roadster is noise in the cabin with the roof, and I personally found it a bit difficult to hear what was going on anyway.

I borrowed my mates last year when we did the Derbyshire cruise. I was at the front and him tale end Charlie. They struggled. @chipper 3 had a set with him so we tried those. They were better but still not brilliant. Couldn't tell you the make of either tho sorry.
Just looked at the links and the ones at £9.99 look almost identical to what I used so may be well worth steering clear of those ones.

I use the cobra radios. Claims to have a 5k range but that is in a straight line. None of the radios are really any good unless top end. At work we use ones that are rated at 7,k but in the buildings only do around 1\2k

The last time i used one was on the Welsh cruise and found it very useful an on loan set but can't remember what make or model it was. It worked very well.

You will need military grade kit to get any decent range.
@Titan (Terry) bought a cheap set over with him when he came to visit and when we lost each other after coming off a short bit of motorway we had to resort to our mobile phones.
Chucked the W/T in the glove box, forgot about it and had to post it back to him in the UK...

I have tried things like this in the past, but really in this day and age find that mobile phones (unlimited tariff ) do the best job.

Totally agree - especially press one button and rings out.

However the guy I am using for anker has no hands free mobile
Yep i did think that must be the case, headphone wires available for pennies though mate or is that not handsfree ? not sure, just a thought.
