What part is this? Fog lights area

Hi Guys, Please refer to attached photos.

The fog lights were removed by someone in the past and now I have this black plastic insert in the passenger side [the driver side is missing]. On the drivers side you can see the clips [circled] as part of the bumper but where do the fog lights secure in there? It doesn't make sense. Has the entire bumper been replaced from a 3m or something? Any detailed assistance appreciated.

Oh, and in case you are wondering what those whistle things are they are to scare off the possums and wallabies we have here. I have NEVER hit anything since installing them on any of my cars.

Oooh, you have an ///M bumper. That's an unusual bonus, except that you can't fit fog lights to them easily!

Yep as Gary states you have an ///M bumper fitted to your car, AFAIAA there are no fog lights that fit that bumper, the plastic ducts are air duct to help cool the front brakes.

Hahaha. I actually wrote the the previous owner about this a long time ago because the vehicle came with fogs and still has the switches and the wiring. I read that the M had the inserts to deflect the air to the brakes. He never answered me back so I left it as that. Well there you go. I will forget about the foggies!

Or you can always change bumpers if fog lites are what you really want!! Those whistlers are used here for deer and other wildlife coming out of the forests. Work excellent and have never hit anything yet! JIM

I expected a lot of ribbing and fallout from members when they saw the whistlers but was pleasantly surprised nothing came of it.

They are discrete so nothing to worry about, silly question, can you hear them whilst you are driving? We have a lot of red dear with us particularly in the winter months and think something like this would work well.

They are discrete and operate at a frequency above that of human hearing. Some people dispute that they actually work but I have been using them for years without incident and also a good friend of mine uses them also. He travels tens of thousands of miles without incident as well. My last drive was 3852k from Perth WA to Tasmania across the Nullarbor range which is notorious for hits. The only time I have had near miss incidents is when an animal is already on the road surface - they get confused and don't know where to run to. They only cost about $6.

Hi, I have used those for a good 40+ years and have never hit anything. We live in a forest with a large deer population and every year not only are many deer hit but people die in Run ins with them. So even if they save one life, either species, well worth the few dollars. I was going to say bucks but that would have given HT a way into the conversation. And no you can't hear them! JIM

In my experience of under-bumper fog lights - over several different cars - is that they are so useless you almost have to get out of the car, walk round the front and look to see if they are on! I wouldn't worry about not having them.

It was my understanding on a recent trip to the UK that forum members use a much larger version of the whistle to scare off a much heftier.version of wildlife attracted to the male forum members cars.
